What Christmas Brings

What Christmas Brings

Everyone is uniquely different; therefore, everyone has an individualized opinion of what Christmas brings. Me personally, I believe Christmas brings to my adult life: awareness, reflection, unselfishness, and lastly jubilation! I shall elaborate on my take further of what Christmas brings!

Christmas Brings Awareness

At this point in my life, my adulthood comes with quite a experience, disappointment, hardship, and excitement! I am truly blessed and oftentimes it is during the Christmas season that I take the time to be in a full state of awareness.

I'm aware of things I failed to do. I acknowledge my failures. I delight in my trials now overcome. Furthermore, I am most grateful to God almighty for keeping me and my family through another year.

It is during the Christmas break that I can truly sit and reflect on what life is, how it can be improved, and what life isn't. It's during this time that I recall the memories of all those who have left this earth. I've lost dear and near relatives to mere associates. Regardless, the blow of death has its affect! Nevertheless, I know peace in all losses as I believe in eternal life through Christ Jesus!

It's a bit painful during this awareness time of reflection to recount all the things I failed to do. It doesn't matter if it is spring cleaning or stepping out on faith to start my local business. I've coined this saying of "regret is a pistol whip"! Procrastination is a nasty little reality that I often struggle with. When I truly put my mind and effort behind a thing, I actually do well in a thing. I must grasp the fact that life is gone like a vapor and I must maximize my time!

Christmas Brings Unselfishness

With financial hardship comes the natural propensity to hoard all you can get. Some say you: get all you can, can all you get and then guard the can! Well, Christmas brings the reminder of how blessed I truly am and how I should capitalize on a last opportunity in the year to be a blessing to someone else, whether they are less fortunate or not!

Last week I told my husband that I felt led to do something nice for a particular family. The homeowner indeed is helping out someone who is homeless by providing shelter. We will do a nice deed, not sure what, for the homeowner and in turn help the individual who has fallen on hard times and hasn't a home yet.

This is a bid deal when you yourself could use a hand out. However, when having faith in God and practicing love for neighbors, being unselfish year round is a necessary act as Christians.

Christmas Brings Jubilation

Christmas is a time for me to rejoice! As a musician I express this joyous emotion through chords unspeakable on the keyboard. What am I so happy about?

Well, some say Christmas is not the actual calendar month of Jesus's birth. Yet, most Christians still celebrate His birth during the December 25th and weeks prior and following.

I am elated about how my savior came in a most humble fashion. He did not come in to this world in the care of the finest doctors or even in a at fine hotel. Though He deserved to have had the best and all the amenities fitting for a king, Jesus Christ came as a gift for all people! No one is excluded! That's why I can sing with happiness and exclamation of thrill!

My favorite Christmas songs are: "O Holy Night", "Silent Night", "O Little Town of Bethlehem", and "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas". My husband is a professional saxophone player and what a treat it is to hear him blow "This Christmas!" Perhaps, I'll join a caroling group and go caroling at a nursing home or in my neighborhood somewhere!

Back to my musicianship. I find that this time of year I can be most melodious on the keyboard by pipping out Christmas songs piano chords style whether at church or in my recording studio/garage! 'Tis the season to be jolly as the Savior is come, Jesus Christ is King and King and Lord of Lords!

Christmas Extras

You may find it interesting that I did not list my wish list of things I desire or what I've put on layaway for my own children. Those things did not even come into play during my thought process for this write as they are not the most important factors of Christmas.

Actually the stress of pleasing your loved-ones and friends for Christmas can be overwhelming and costly. People are depressed during this time of year not just because they're bereaved or ill, but many are depressed because they've gone bankrupt trying to keep up with the Jones.

Stocking suffers, cookies for Santa, and Christmas lights are traditions that run 1,000s of years deep, but again they don't move me during Christmas. I'm not bashing those who relish in such activities. I choose to reflect, share, and party about the arrival of my Lord and savior, Jesus Christ!

I agree! Despite the commercial nature of Christmas today, I think it's still a great opportunity to reflect on the good in the world and the things we treasure in our lives.
